Hindu Concept on God

Hindu Concept on God

God is the original source of all that is true knowledge and all that is known by physical sciences. God is existent, Conscious, All Beautitude, Formless, Almighty, Just, Merciful, Unbegotten, Infinite, Unchangeable, Beginningless, Incomparable, the support of All, the Lord or all, All-pervading, Omniscient and Controller of All from within, Evermature, Imperishable, Fearless, Eternal, Pure and Creator of the universe. IT alone must be worshipped. The Vedas are the books of all TRUE knowledge. It is the paramount duty of all Aryas to read them, to teach them to others, to listen to them and to recite them to others.

The vedas

In the most ancient scripture of the Hindus – The Rigveda the creator of the universe is described as Brahma who is almighty and all-pervading and He does not have any shape, any image or any conceivable form. He is formless.

“Na tasya pratima asthi”.

The yojurveda also says - He is formless

The upanishadas

The earliest upanishada named Chadyogyoponishad describes the almighty as -- “ekmevadwiyam” means there is no second to Him. He has no parents or no lord.

The other upanishada named Ishavasyoponishad also supports the same idea of Almighty God.

The Bhagavatgita

The Bhagavatgita never advocate plurarity of God. Let us look at the verse 24 of chapter 7 of Bhagavatgita which is as follows ----

“Avyoktang byaktimaponnong manyate mamabuddhayah

Parang bhavamojanonto mamabyayomonuttamam.”

Means ---- “Not knowing My unsurpassable and undecaying supreme nature, the unintelligent the Me the supreme Spirit beyond the reach of mind and senses, resort to worshipping the lower formations (gods and demigods).

In verse 66 chapter 18 of the Bhagavatgita Lord Krishna professes to worship only one God leaving aside all other --- The verse run as follows –

Savadharman parityajyo mamekam sharanang brojo.

Aham twam sorvapapevyo mokhoyishyami ma shuchoh.

Brahma Sutra

The Brahma Sutra states

"Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan"

"There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit."

The above demonstates that Hinduism firmly believes in ONENESS of GOD and never encourage polytheism in any form.
